Shared Services seminars
One day seminars for senior managers, helping to build capability in this important area. The seminars are designed to cater for beginners and experts - a highway code of Shared Services and a toolbox for Shared Service Architects.
Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) NVQ
Over 380 officers from local authorities across the region have completed this fully-funded course, delivering £378k of savings. The training mimics a rapid improvement project, so that changes are implemented and services are improved during the training course. Participants achieve a nationally recognised qualification, an NVQ level 2, equivalent to 5 GCSEs.
Prince 2 project management
Prince 2 is the industry standard for project management, and EM IEP provided a three day Foundation course and a two day Practitioner course at heavily subsidised rates, provided by the leading Prince 2 provider, QA.
Implementing ‘lean' in the public sector
This popular 3 day course focused on the ‘lean' methodology and service improvement, examining the value stream to eliminate waste. As well as ‘lean' tools, the course covered the cultural and management issues involved in ‘lean' change.
Facilitation skills
This highly practical course provided the skills needed to effectively facilitate meetings and workshops. Provided in partnership with East Midlands Councils (formerly LGEM), places on this course were snapped up quickly.
Systems Thinking
The approach that everyone is talking about, systems thinking looks from the customer's perspective to radically improve services. Following a number of successful courses within authorities, open courses were also provided.

This proven methodology for Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) is widely used in local government, helping authorities to deliver projects that achieve real efficiency savings
