Nottingham City Council: Simpler equalities = simpler life

The development of a new Equality scheme in 2009 gave Nottingham City Council the opportunity to simplify its approach to equalities and embed it into services, departments and key processes such as performance management and commissioning.

This approach has already brought a number of benefits including clearly showing the Council's equality priorities and how people can support them, an emphasis on outcomes rather than activities, clear accountability and a greater freedom for officers to achieve outcomes through existing work.

 

Access to Services for Older People Flies the Flag for Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire County Council has been awarded a Green Flag for innovative approaches to the provision of wellbeing to its older community, through improved access to services and new preventative services in the form of the ‘Notts 50 Plus Scheme.'

 

Nottingham City: Officially the Best Public Transport in the Country

An independent MORI survey reported user satisfaction figures of 76.9% (over 90% for trams) for public transport in Nottingham making it the joint highest in the country. This, combined with the sustained increase in use of public transport in the city, 7% since 2004 excluding concessions, has earned Nottingham City Council a Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) Green Flag.

 

Rushcliffe: One of the Top Four Councils in the UK

Rushcliffe Borough Council is officially one of the top councils in the UK. The Council was rated as ‘Excellent' with a top score of 4 in the nationwide organisational assessment which was the major part of the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) in 2009. Rushcliffe was one of only four district councils to be given this top grading out of 236 councils nationally.
