‘Fair price, Fair care' across the East Midlands

Through the implementation of a Care Funding Calculator across the region's authorities, Adult Social Care Services in the East Midlands have generated over £2 million in savings since 2008, forecast to become £4.5 million cumulatively when the 2010-2011 figures are included. This represents an average price reduction of 17%.

Nottinghamshire County Council has been awarded a Green Flag for innovative approaches to the provision of wellbeing to its older community, through improved access to services and new preventative services in the form of the ‘Notts 50 Plus Scheme.'

The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) agreed with the Government to operate a Joint Improvement Partnership (JIP) in each region to support improvement in adult social care. Each region has a JIP programme led by directors of adult social services and a national Joint Improvement Programme Board monitors delivery of the regional programmes.

The project represents collaborative procurement at its most effective – delivering an efficient, cost-effective solution which assists the nine East Midlands authorities in meeting their obligation to offer high quality care and support, in an appropriate setting, for people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
