The Marmot Review ‘Fair Society, Healthy Lives' is about tackling health inequalities post-2010 and covers all of the social determinants of health. It emphasises the pivotal role of local authorities and all their partners in reducing health inequalities and makes it clear that success is reliant on a ‘whole society' approach based on strong partnership actions that have been designed by
individuals and communities.
The East Midlands Communities for Health Network, hosted by Nottingham City Council and supported by the Improvement and Development Agency, is organising a conference to look at the implications of the Marmot Review for the East Midlands.
The morning of the conference will include the following presentations:
Introduction to the day Martin Gibbs, Department of Health
The Implications of the Marmot Review Dr Jessica Allen, Marmot Review team
Nottingham - Early Intervention City Cllr David Mellen, Nottingham City Council
In the afternoon session delegates will be asked to choose two of the following workshops which will be led by regional/national experts:
Enabling all children and young people to maximise their capabilities and have control over their lives
Enabling adults to maximise their capabilities and have control over their lives
Creating fair employment and good work for all
Creating and developing healthy and sustainable places and communities
