Invitation from Local Government Improvement and Development.
As part of the LG Group's support for local authorities involved in developing proposals for Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), Local Government Improvement and Development will be hosting an online open discussion on Wednesday 28th July, running between 10am - 12pm.
LGID would like to invite you to join the new Local Enterprise Partnership Community of Practice, an on-line forum for discussion and debate.

The session, aimed at those leading on the development of their LEP proposals, will launch the new LEP Community of Practice (CoP), an online networking resource to enable the sharing and development of ideas and approaches.
We are assembling a panel of experts* to stimulate discussion and contribute to local government's thinking in making an authoritative and ambitious response to this invitation from the Government.
Given the need for councils to respond to Government by 6th September, the 2 hour session, starting at 10am, is a timely opportunity to gather information and gain an insight from a panel of experts including peers from other local authorities and partner organisations. The panel will offer information and guidance throughout the online discussion and Local Government Group colleagues will be at hand to facilitate discussions.
We encourage everyone participating to share their own views, experiences and learning. There is no need to wait until the 28th - you can start posting your views now.
We are already aware that council's are concerned with issues relating to governance, business engagement, natural economic geographies, delivery arrangements, transfer of RDA assets/ functions and ambitions for their LEP.
To take part in the discussion, simply join the LEP CoP now for free at http://www.communities.idea.gov.uk/c/4993164/home.do
We will facilitate the session and all materials will be collated. This together with new information and advice will be available on an ongoing basis through this CoP.
* Confirmed Panel members include:
• John Griffiths, from Rocket Science economic development consultants
• Ivan Annibal, from Rose Regeneration and Lincolnshire County Council
• Paul Hammond, Economic Regeneration Manager, Mott Macdonald
• Doug Scott, Chief Executive of South Tyneside Enterprise Agency
