Performance Management Benchmarking
Location: Strand Palace Hotel, 372 Strand, London, WC2R 0JJ
Event date: 18 Feb 2011
With budgets under increasing pressure, the ability for local authorities to improve energy efficiency and provide low carbon electricity and heating are becoming harder than ever to realise. However, the long-term benefits from reducing energy bills on the public estate - as well as for local residents and businesses - mean that cost-effective opportunities are still available. Generating your own energy through Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is a solution particularly suited to public sector buildings that can provide low carbon heat, cooling and electricity with a payback of less than five years.
This free workshop will examine the benefits of utilizing CHP either in single buildings, or as part of a wider, community-scale district heating network, as well as the policy and financial tools available to help authorities deliver schemes. Of particular interest will be the ability to provide improvements with little or no capital outlay via Energy Services contracts.
Speakers will provide evidence of their positive experiences through case studies and work in progress, and explain the relevant policies that can assist project delivery. CHPA members will be able to answer technical queries as well as presenting some of the financial models currently on the market.
The event will:
- Give a brief overview of CHP and district heating technology
- Explore existing case studies with guest speakers including:
Helen Pineo, Consultant - Sustainable Communities, LGID
Patrick Allcorn, Deputy Director, Distributed Energy and Heat Team, DECC
Tony Norton, Head of Low Carbon Development, Regen SouthWest
Discuss financial incentives and policy drivers
- Feature a boiler room tour of the Grade II listed venue to see a CHP plant in action
- Include networking opportunities and a chance to ask the experts
