The Department for Education, in partnership with the Social Investment Business, the Commissioning Support Programme and the Society of Procurement Officers is pleased to invite you to register for your local modernising commissioning training workshop.

The workshops will bring together the following to look at the practicalities of modernising commissioning:
 Voluntary and community sector (VCS) professionals
 Small and medium size enterprise (SME) professionals
 Local children's commissioners
 Local procurement professionals

What will I gain from attending my local workshop?
These training workshops provide an opportunity to:

• understand the role the VCS (mutuals, social enterprises, co-operatives and charities) can play in the future delivery of public service
• learn to use vital commissioning tools and key commercial skills
• better understand the Big Society agenda and the role for commissioning and procurement in it
• identify the challenges for commissioning and procurement from a customer and a providers' perspective
• hear in-depth analysis of good commercial practices from Local Authorities and VCS groups within your region
• network with players within your region

The workshops will introduce you to vital tools designed to help providers, commissioners and procurers achieve improved outcomes for less money. These include:

• The latest models for delivering services
• Tools that will be increasingly used by commissioners in the future
• A methodology for driving better outcomes and efficiency
