Local Authority Financial Inclusion Toolkit
This toolkit has been designed to develop and support the role of Local Authorities around the Financial Inclusion (FI) agenda. It contains a range of information & resources to help authorities develop & deliver plans & projects around this agenda, including tackling FI at a strategy/policy level as well as practical tips & guidance to embed FI within the day to day work of key service areas.

What is Financial Inclusion?
Financial inclusion is about ensuring that everyone has access to appropriate financial services & products, enabling them to manage their money on a day-to-day basis, plan for the future and deal effectively with financial distress. Key services include the following:
• Access to affordable and responsible credit
• Access to an appropriate bank account
• Access to face to face debt advice
• Access to basic home contents insurance
• Access to savings facilities
• Improved financial education, literacy & capability
