What is the NIEP for Construction?

The National Improvement & Efficiency Partnership (NIEP) for Construction's vision is for local government to become the most efficient and effective asset managers and procurers of construction. We will facilitate delivery of improved value for money through developing both continuous improvement at a regional and national level, and a stronger voice for local government. The NIEP's solutions will be integrated and will facilitate local sustainability.

The NIEP for Construction helps public authorities in their successful management of assets and procurement of building and highway projects. It builds on the success of the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs), which have led best practice amongst local public authorities across nine regions.

The potential is illustrated by the achievements of one RIEP:

• 80% improvement in cost overruns
• 16% improvement KPI project delivery
• £8 million total cost process saving for all projects procured
• £28 million total efficiency benefit to date
